Internet Explorer Browser:

Tools - Internet Options - Privacy - needs to be at the lowest or next-to-lowest setting in order for the LJ stuff to work correctly. The free Opera browser is much better (opera.exe).

If you have those set wrong, when you click on one of the communities in the left panel you may not be able to post at first, and you may not see messages that are "members only". The IE browser treats things differently in a "frames" website - it shouldn't, but it does.
